Buy the Lucien Henley sewing pattern from French Navy. The Lucien Henley is a timeless piece that is sure to become a trans-seasonal staple. The pattern includes three style options. Style A has a more fitted silhouette with set-in short sleeves. Styles B and C have a more relaxed cut and slightly dropped shoulders, with short and long sleeves respectively. With the placket and neck binding being adaptable to both knit and woven fabrics, this pattern provides ample opportunities for both creativity and scrap-busting.

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight cotton spandex knit fabric with a minimum stretch of 20%. Style C could also be made in a medium weight sweatshirting or ponte de roma fabric. The cuffs for Style C can be made from the main fabric or matching ribbing. Lightweight viscose knit fabric is not recommended for this design.
The placket can be made with any light to medium weight woven remnant that coordinates with your main fabric. The neck binding, if cut on the bias, can also be made out of the same woven fabric as the placket. Alternatively both could be cut from a contrast knit fabric or ribbing but it is essential that any knit fabric used has good recovery (returns to original size after stretching). If using knit, ribbing or very delicate/thin woven fabric for the placket it is recommended that you interface it with lightweight interfacing to stabilise the stretch.
