Buy the 154 Child/Teen Scottish Kilt and Jacket sewing pattern from Folkwear. Scottish Highlanders have been wearing garments of tartan-patterned fabric for centuries. This ancient tradition is cherished among Scottish descendants all over the world and is still passed on to new generations.

Complete instructions are provided for measuring, pleating, and constructing the kilt, and pattern pieces and instructions are provided for the formal Prince Charlie jacket.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: The kilt template is divided across two A0 sheets. The sheets will need to be joined with no overlap.

Suggested fabrics: 

Kilt: Medium weight worsted twill tartan wool or equivalent.

Jacket: Suit-quality medium weight wool or blend. Contrast fabric for the lapels, such as silk satin, is optional.

Fabric requirements: All without nap.

Jacket: 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/4 - 1 5/8 yd (1.1 - 1.5 m) // 60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 1 - 1 3/8 yd (0.9 - 1.3 m).

Jacket lining: 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 - 1 3/8 yd (0.9 - 1.3 m) // 60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 3/4 - 1 yd (0.7 - 0.9 m).

Kilt: 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 2 3/4 - 3 5/8 yd (2.5 - 3.3 m) // 60" (150 cm) wide fabric: purchase half the yardage required for 45" (115 cm) wide fabric.

Sizing: 4 – 14 years. Please check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements. 

Notions: Interfacing // Kilt: two sets of hooks and eyes or Velcro squares for closures; kilt pin // Jacket: 1 yd (0.9 m) of 3/8" (9.5 mm) wide stay tape; one pair of 1/2" (13 mm) thick uncovered shoulder pads; twenty 1/2" (13 mm) square metal buttons.
