Buy the Winona Vest sewing pattern from Daisy Chain Patterns. Winona is a Western-inspired utility vest that features two neckline options, an optional collar, two yoke variations, and three pocket options. Choose between inverted pleat two-way pockets with flaps, or two styles of double decker pockets. Close your vest with snaps or buttons. The vest can be quilted (with bias bound edges) or lined. Winona is designed to have a straight fit with some ease so you can layer under it. Size up or down for your preferred fit.

Suggested fabrics:

Main: Medium to heavy weight non-stretch woven fabric such as cotton or poly/cotton twill or canvas, denim, wool coating. Performance fabrics such as water-resistant nylon could also be used for a more technical garment.

Lining: Light to medium weight non-stretch woven fabric such as cotton poplin, lawn, shirting or flannel, or wool flannel.

While sherpa fleece is a knit fabric, it is usually stable (non-stretchy) enough to be used for a project like this and would be super cosy for the main or lining fabric.

Quilted: Whether you decide to piece your material or use whole yardage, the designer recommends light to medium weight woven fabrics with no stretch such as cotton lawn or poplin, quilting cotton, lightweight canvas, linen and linen blends. You may also use a found quilt or pre-quilted fabric.

Fabric requirements: Additional fabric may be required for print matching.

Main: 44" (111 cm) wide fabric: 2.6 - 3.1 yd (2.4 - 2.8 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.0 - 2.4 yd (1.8 - 2.2 m).

Lining: 44" and 54" (111 and 137 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 1.8 yd (1.4 - 1.7 m).

Sizing: XS – 6X (approx. UK 6 – 38, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 0.5 yd/m of woven fusible interfacing; three to six 5/8" (15 mm) snaps or buttons // For quilting: wadding/batting // For bias bound finish: 0.6 yd (0.5 m) of light to mid weight woven fabric + 1" (25 mm) bias tape maker OR 7 yd (6.4 m) of 1" (25 mm) pre-made double-fold bias tape // Optional: topstitching thread.
