With a slouchy, oversized fit, graphic style lines and clever details, it makes a true statement.

View A is a classic crewneck sweatshirt with a band neckline. View B adds a fun twist by gathering the front band at the waist with a fabric tie. View C is a unique hoodie with a deep crossover neckline and a kangaroo pocket. All views feature a curved back yoke and a two-piece darted sleeve. Worn here with the Plateau Joggers.

Suggested fabrics: Choose thicker knit fabrics like cotton fleece, polar fleece, French terry, ponte, and double knits with at least 15% crosswise stretch.

Fabric requirements:

Views A and B: 58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: Sizes 0-8 = 1.5 yd (1.4 m) // Sizes 10-14 = 1.75 yd (1.6 m) // Sizes 16-20 = 2 yd (1.85 m).

View C: 58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: Sizes 0-8 = 1.75 yd (1.6 m) // Sizes 10-14 = 2 yd (1.85 m) // Sizes 16-20 = 2.25 yd (2m).

Sizing: 0 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This size range is based on a B cup bust and an average height of 5’6″. Please note that B cup does not refer to bra sizing, but rather to the difference in inches between high and full bust. A 2″ difference between those measurements is equivalent to a B cup.

Best dropped shoulder sweatshirt ever.

I was blown away by the fit of this sweatshirt. The fit on me was just effortless, especially around the shoulder area where other dropped shoulder styles sometimes can cause trouble for me. The design has many fun design details such as a back yoke and forward tilting side seams plus a two part sleeve with two darts. You also get three versions for one price, although version A and B are very similar but C is remarkably different with a crossover front bodice, kangaroo pocket and a hoodie. Excellent value for money with this style. I made a size 6.

Cool oversized loungewear sweatshirt options

Closet Core Patterns released two new patterns as part of their Montreal loungewear collection. I tested the extended range 16 for them, which is drafted with a D cup block. My measurements match the 16D almost exactly and I made View A, which is the regular crewneck to test the pattern.

The Mile End sweatshirt has some fun design lines, which include a diagonal side seam and waistband and a yoke. I decided to mix it up by colour-blocking with both a print and solid. The sweatshirt is slightly cropped (around high hip) and is quite oversized, particularly around the shoulders and arms. It was a fun, quick sew and I've been wearing it a lot.

I decided to make a mash-up of View B and C after the test was finished. I'd been intrigued by the V wrap neck anyway and I do like a hoodie. But I also wanted to add the waist tie from View B, because the regular cropped top fall from my bust and can be a bit cuboid, so I thought the tie might cinch it in a bit and give me a little shape.

I feel like I did and I also sized down to a 14, to see how the ease was. I liked it this way as well - it wasn't in any way tight, but I think it's a case of how cosy and oversized you prefer it to be. The cropped length does offset the design ease to some extent. I made both tops in different French Terrys.

Overall, I think this is a nice offering from Closet Core who always seem to add some extra little details to anything they design and I'm looking forward to making the joggers soon! For more details and construction pics, feel free to visit my full post at my blog, if you're interested  :)
