Bella Loves Patterns Rupert Coat

Buy the Rupert Coat sewing pattern from Bella Loves Patterns. Rupert is an unlined hip-length coat with a scarf permanently attached to the neckline. This pattern was exclusively designed for double face splittable coating fabrics. 

Rupert has a loose-fitting straight cut. It features a dropped shoulder line, one-piece sleeve, front neck darts, front patch pockets, a button closure at the centre front, and side seam slits. The scarf has a centre back seam. 

IMPORTANT: This pattern was designed for double face splittable coating fabrics only. Conventional coating fabrics will not work without changing the seam allowances and creating extra pattern pieces.

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Medium to heavyweight double faced coating fabrics (splittable wool, bonded wool or double cloth wool). Order a swatch to be sure you have the correct fabric. Avoid single fabrics that cannot be split. A small amount of lining fabric will be needed for the hanging loop.

Fabric requirements: 

Height Group 1: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 1.9 - 2.2 m (2 - 2.4 yd).

Height Group 2: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 2 - 2.2 m (2.1 - 2.4 yd).

Lining (hanging loop): 15 cm x 6 cm (6" x 2.5").

Sizing: UK 6 – 22 (approx. UK 6/8 – 18/20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted to fit a B cup size and has two height options:

Height Group 1: 160 cm (5'3")
Height Group 2: 170 cm (5'7")

Select the closest height to your body. If you are in the middle, choose the taller. Both groups have the same width around the body – the only difference is in the length. If you are outside these height groups, you may need to alter the pattern length.

Notions: Five 23-25 mm (1") buttons; stay tape (straight edge and bias tape, see chart); basting thread (no special thread required).
