Buy the Children’s Kinjarling Dress sewing pattern from Waves & Wild. Kinjarling is a relaxed woven dress. There are three lengths, two necklines, two neck finishes, three pocket choices and optional waist ties. The dress can open at the front or the back and fastens with buttons or snaps.

Suggested fabrics: Light/medium weight woven fabric. Fabrics with a good balance of structure and drape are ideal. Examples include cotton poplin, cotton lawn and linen. Fabrics with more drape such as rayon and some silks are beautiful but the end fit will be a little more relaxed. Stiffer/thicker fabrics will result in a more structured dress which can look fabulous. Soft fabrics such as double gauze or muslin will create a very relaxed, comfortable, casual dress.

Fabric requirements: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: Knee length, 100 – 220 cm (1 1/8 – 2 1/2 yd) // Calf length, 110 – 240 cm (1 1/4 – 2 5/8 yd) // Maxi length, 120 – 260 cm (1 3/8 – 2 5/8 yd).

Yardage is calculated for directional fabric and for a dress that includes all the options. If you are using non-directional fabric and/or omit the pockets and ties you may require less. If using narrower fabric you will require more.

NOTE: The skirt is designed to be very full and gathered. This works best with lighter fabrics. If you are using a heavier fabric or are a little short on fabric you can remove up to one third of the skirt width without making any other adjustments. The pattern will work just the same with a less full skirt.

Sizing: 2 – 12 years. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Scrap of lightweight interfacing for the hip pockets and neck facing; 3 – 8 buttons or snaps.
