Buy the Ida Top sewing pattern from Fibre Mood. Looking to expand your wardrobe with a true gem that's a breeze to make? With a loose cut and two V necklines, Ida's your pattern. Ida has a shallow V at the back and a deeper one at the front and both are finished with facings. Don’t care to feel that exposed at the front, or would simply like to show off a little more back? Just wear the top 'backwards'! The straight cuffs are an understated, yet charming touch. Pair Ida with high-waisted trousers or a calf-length skirt...or lengthen it into a comfy dress!

Suggested fabrics: Ida can be made in just about any fabric. It will suit a stiffer option like denim or fabric with a fluid drape (viscose or polyester crepe, etc.). From pastels and neutrals to a bright splash of colour to a funky design – just go wild! If your heart is set on using a knit, be sure to select one that has enough body and isn’t too flimsy. Interlock and French terry are two good options.

Fabric requirements: 110 cm wide fabric: 100 - 175 cm // 140 cm wide fabric: 85 - 175 cm.

Sizing: XS – XXXL (approx. UK 6 – 28/30). Please check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread; iron-on interfacing, max. 45 cm.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (23 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet); projector pattern.

Note: Seam allowances are included in this pattern. The copy shop file we print for you shows the cutting lines only (not cutting lines and stitching lines) to make it easier to know what size to cut out.

Perfect comfy number

This is the Ida top by Fibremood, but lengthened into a dress. My pattern, direct from Fibremood, did not come with the dress option.
The Ida is a loose cut top and two V necklines, one at the front and one at the back. I choose to wear the slightly deeper one at the back.
Both 'Vs' finished with nice deep facings.

Simple square cuffs finish the grown-on sleeves.
I went with the size 10 (sized down ever so slightly from my bust measurement) lengthened to match a RTW dress I own. However on finishing and trying it on with the wide belt (copied from my previous Nikau Dress), the resulting frock was much too short and also too tight around my hips for elegance!
So, I chopped of the bottom and now it is an Ida top!

Fortunately, I had plenty of snake skin print fabric so off I went again, widening by an inch from the waist down, both sides.
It would really benefit from a couple of bra strap retainers to keep the shoulders exactly in place and not falling back or front, or side. :)

It definitely (in my case) needed the belt, which in itself looks like I have an anaconda wrapped around my waist.
In the dress version I choose not to interface the sleeve cuffs, which look better for the dress version I think.
A comfy but slippery number in a fabulous fabric. There are more details and images on my blog
