Buy the Buttress Jeans sewing pattern from Allie Olson. The Buttress Jeans are a pair of high-waisted jeans with a front yoke and hidden slit pockets. Inspired by acid wash denim of the early 1980s, this modern take has a clean silhouette and is offered in three leg widths: barrel (View A), straight (View B), and wide (View C).

View A’s barrel leg fit has twisted outseams and an ankle length inseam. Views B and C both have a longer, floor-length inseam. All views include a fly zip, roomy back pockets, and generous seam allowances.

Suggested fabrics: The Buttress Jeans should be sewn using non-stretch bottom weight fabrics. Denim, canvas, twill, and corduroy are ideal. Fabrics weighing 10-12 oz/yd² are recommended.

Fabric requirements: Additional fabric may be required for directional prints or print matching. Please note: Sizes 22-32 require at least 55″ wide fabric.

45″ (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 00-20 only): 3 – 3 1/2 yd (2.7 – 3.2 m).

54″ (137 cm) or wider fabric: 3 – 4 yd (2.7 – 3.6 m).

Sizing: US 00 – 32 (approx. UK 6/8 – 32/34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

The Buttress Jeans are drafted for a height of 5’6″ (168 cm). They are fitted through the waist with some ease through the hips and thighs. Choose a size based on your waist measurement and grade as necessary.

Notions: 1 yd (0.9 m) of interfacing; 1/4 yd (0.2 m) of stable cotton pocketing fabric; one jeans zipper, 9″ (23 cm) for sizes 00-8, 11″ (28 cm) for sizes 10-26, 14″ (35 cm) for sizes 28-32; one 11/16″ (1.7 cm) jeans button; contrast topstitching thread (optional).
