Alison Glass Feathers Quilt

Buy the Feathers Quilt sewing pattern from Alison Glass. The Feathers Quilt is one of the original and most beloved Alison Glass patterns. Co-authored with Nydia Kehnle, Feathers is a classic AG block design with lots of possibilities, and this new version of the pattern includes a gallery of quilts to illustrate options and provide inspiration. The finished size of the quilt is easily adjusted by adding or subtracting rows and columns. The Feathers pattern uses the foundation paper piecing method.

Suggested fabrics: Quilting cottons.

Fabric requirements: 

Background: 4 yd (3.7 m).

Foreground (feather shapes): 2 1/2 yd (2.3 m) total. Use a variety of 25-40 prints to achieve the colour gradation shown. The cover quilt uses 42 fabrics. Fat eighth bundles provide a variety of fabrics in a cut size that works well with the templates. Feathers is also a good project for scraps.

Backing: 4 yd (3.7 m).

Binding: 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Sizing: 55″ x 66″ (140 cm x 168 cm), easily modified.

Notions: Thin copy or foundation paper and a printer/copier for making copies of the templates, sewing machine with adjustable stitch length, rotary cutter, rulers, cutting mat, iron/ironing surface or pressing tool, 80 wt thread, water-soluble glue stick, washi or clear tape.

Pattern includes: Detailed instructions with full colour illustrations; 14 block templates.
