TRENDING: TROUSER SEWING PATTERNS

TRENDING: TROUSER SEWING PATTERNS
Kate Underdown

It’s been pretty hard to ignore that trouser patterns are HOT right now. We’ve seen indie release after indie release in the trouser department, so we’ve declared this the “season of the trouser“! If there was ever a time to try out sewing your own pair of trews, this is it! We’re rounding up some of the excellent indie trouser sewing pattern releases that have hit the site in the past few months. There is something for everyone, so you’re bound to find the pair of your dreams. Maybe 2023 will be the year we all make and wear a fabulous pair and trousers?!

Merchant & Mills Quinn Trousers

First up is a pattern that is already making waves since its release just a few weeks ago! The Merchant & Mills Quinn Trousers have been incredibly popular with Fold Liners, who we can only assume, are falling in love (as we did) with all the dreamy details.

The sailor’ inspired wide-leg trousers, feature back welt pockets and front pockets with button openings. There’s also a clever buckle fastening at the back for flexible fitting. Pick medium-weight woven fabrics such as cotton twill, denim, corduroy, light to medium-weight woollens and linen to make your Quinn Trousers.

Sizing: UK 6 – 16/18 or UK 18 – 28/30

Format: PDF

Closet Core Mitchell Trousers

We’ve never had so many requests ahead of a launch, so we knew this was going to be a very popular pattern! Inspired by a genius songwriter with timeless style, Mitchell is a modern interpretation of a classic pleated trouser. Elegant and comfortable with very special details, they are destined to become your new favourite bottoms.

The Mitchell Trousers are high-waisted with a fly front zipper and a comfy hidden waistband facing for a sleek continuous silhouette through the rise. Choose between a hidden pants hook and bar or classic button closure and a tapered leg or wide leg. Other lovely details include deep pleats in the front enclosing a unique angled pocket and adjustable waist straps secured with D-rings or sliders.

Sizing: UK 6 – 20

Format: Paper

Bella Loves Patterns Billy Trousers

It you want to tackle the tailoring trend, the Bella Loves Patterns Billy Trousers might be the one. Billy has about a million details which means you get a polished finish that looks as good on the inside as they do on the outside. The designer, Isabela, is a professional tailor/seamstress so knows a thing or two about tailoring and passes those skills on to you! If you want to sew a relaxed, tailored pair of trousers you cannot go wrong with this pattern!

These high-rise trousers feature two sets of pressed pleats, a front fly, and side slash pockets. The waistband sits at the natural waist, fastens with a hook and bar and internal button, and has five belt loops. At the back, Billy has two waist darts on each side and a single welt pocket with a button-and-loop closure. Billy is a floor-length trouser with a plain-finish invisible hem.

Sizing: UK 6/8 – 18/20 with two height options

I AM Patterns Nout Trousers

Were you inspired by the sailor trousers the contestants made on the Sewing Bee earlier this year? You’re going to love the I AM Pattern Nout Trousers! This has been a very popular pattern since we launched it in the shop – we clearly all want a slice of French style!

The Nout Trousers have a button front flap closure paired with some classic jeans-style details and an ultra-cool tapered leg. You can complete the look with contrasting topstitching for a denim feel.

Sizing: EU 34 – 52 (approx. UK 6 – 18)

Maison Fauve Brooklyn Pants

A must-have item in the Empire State of Fauve collection, the Brooklyn Pants sold out when we first had them in, showing us that the trouser trend was growing!  Brooklyn is just as fabulous styled with sneakers in the day for an urban look as with stilettos in the evening. You can expect lots of Maison Fauve’s signature details that make their patterns so chic!

These trousers have a wide cut, slightly high waist, pleats at the front, belt loops and invisible side zip. The back features double darts and faux patch pockets.

Sizing:  EU34 – 52 (approx. UK 6 – 22)

Designed for woven fabrics with some stretch, they feature details that make them special. They include a classic zipper fly with zipper shield, angled front pockets with a concealed change pocket inside one of them, back darts, back welt pockets, and a waistband with elastic side panels for extra comfort. The inseam on this trouser pattern is moved forward for a better fit to give you truly comfortable and well-fitting trousers for every occasion

Sizing: UK 8 – 20

Cashmerette Meriam Trousers

The next pattern is a very clever one. The Cashmerette Meriam Woven Pants will be trousers you’ll thoroughly enjoy wearing thanks to the innovative flex waistband. The Meriam Trousers keep you comfortable while standing or sitting, without compromising on style and sophistication! That’s not all that makes this pattern so clever, you get the option of a full bum adjustment piece, already done for you. Love this!!

The Meriam has the classic details you love in a trouser: a zip fly with a hidden closure, front slash pockets, straight legs, and optional back welt pockets. But best of all, you’ll get a fabulously comfortable fit with a flex waistband that gently expands by 3-4″ as you sit down.

Sizing: UK 8 – 18 or UK 14 – 34 with standard and full bum-fit options

Format: Paper

The Modern Sewing Co. Worker Trousers

These are the ultimate everyday trousers and the perfect alternative to jeans all year round. The Modern Sewing Co. Worker Trousers fit snugly around the lower waist, with a slight balloon in the leg for volume and comfort, before tapering in at the ankle.

The construction features a concealed button or zip fly finished with binding, front pockets with facings, patch pockets, and a waistband with belt loops. The combination of fit and construction is tried and tested and designed to be worn into the ground, just like the very best vintage jeans.

Sizing: UK 4/6 – 20 or UK 18 – 26

Format: PDF

Rachel – one half of the Fold Line duo, has made the Worker Trousers and now the whole team wants a pair! Read Rachel’s thorough review here to find out what she thought of the sewing process and sizing.

The Assembly Line Regular Fit Trousers

If you’re someone who loves wearing smart trousers every day, this is a great pattern to pick! The Assembly Line Regular Fit Trousers is a versatile and super adjustable pattern, with instructions to raise or lower the rise, change the waist width, adjust the allowance mid-front, and alter the length.

The TAL Regular Trousers have a high waist and straight, full-length legs AND side slant pockets. They are sleek with clean lines and fasten with a side zipper.

Sizing: UK 8 – 18 or UK 18/20 – 28/30

Marsha Style Alexis Pant

The Marsha Style Alexis Pant, are mid-rise pants with a slouchy fit and feel through the body. They are oh-so-cool and look great dressed down with trainers. Pick a fabric with a little drape in in to really show off the silhouette.

The pattern is packed with details that elevate the finish – a fly front with a button or hook and bar closure, side slant pockets, front yoke and feature front side flaps. A self-fabric belt with a D-ring slider for adjustment is held in place by belt loops. We are in love!

Sizing: UK 6 – 26 – Size down one size, and the pant will fit as high-waisted, tailored pants. Note a size 0 has been included in this pattern so a size 2 person can size down.
