The Fold Line Book Club: Sewing with Scraps: 15 Projects to Sew Using Leftover Fabric

Our Book Club is back with a spring-focused edition for March. Each month, we will be bringing you an exciting new sewing or sewing-related book to enjoy.

This month, we selected a book that is not only full of inspiring projects to sew but also helps you tackle your pile of scraps and offcuts, transforming them into something useful and beautiful.

The March book focuses on learning how to repurpose leftover fabric to create a Scandi-inspired wardrobe.

Home sewing can create a lot of wastage, and it can be tricky to find ways to use leftover fabric pieces. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced sewer, Sewing with Scraps will show you how to elevate leftover fabric into clothing you’ll treasure for years to come.

If you like to flick through a book before you commit, Kate will take you on a virtual tour of what's inside in this video!

Sewing with Scraps will show you how to think sustainably and make 15 fashion-forward garments and accessories, including a workwear jacket, patchwork tee, quilted coat, tote bag, and more.

The book includes three unisex PDF patterns to download. Use the patterns provided or try out the methods with some of your own favourite patterns.

Swedish designer Birgitta Helmersson and Sam Grose will teach you three core methods to make the most of your scraps – patchwork, strips and collage – before you put them to use.
