Noodlehead Firefly Tote

Buy the Firefly Tote sewing pattern from Noodlehead. An easy to use tote and project bag! The larger tote size is perfect for a day trip or a work bag, and the smaller project size is great for knitting or crochet projects, or as a lunch bag! Both sizes feature a fun drawstring closure  to keep everything secure and an interior slip pocket. A handy front pocket with an additional zippered pocket makes this tote super functional!

NOTE: No printed pattern pieces are included. Rotary cutting instructions/measurements are provided instead, as all the pieces are rectangular (just cut and sew, no pattern pieces needed).

Suggested fabrics: Canvas (7-9 oz.) for exterior fabric. Waxed canvas (8-10 oz.) or dry oilskin may also be used for exterior fabric (omit medium-weight interfacing/fusible fleece and reduce fusible woven interfacing to 1 1/2 yd/1.4 m for tote size or 1 yd/0.91 m for project size). Quilting cotton for accent and lining fabrics.

Tote size: 44″ (1.1 m) wide fabric: Exterior fabric, 5/8 yd (58 cm) // Lining fabric (includes interior pocket), 1 yd (91 cm) // Accent fabric, 1 yd (91 cm).

Project size: 44″ (1.1 m) wide fabric: Exterior fabric, 1/2 yd (46 cm) // Lining fabric (includes interior pocket), 3/4 yd (69 cm) // Accent fabric, 5/8 yd (58 cm).

Sizing: 

Tote size: Approx. finished dimensions: 10 1/2″ W measured at base x 5″ D x 14″ H (26.7 cm x 12.7 cm x 35.6 cm).

Project size: Approx. finished dimensions: 8″ W measured at base x 5″ D x 10″ H (20.3 cm x 12.7 cm x 25.4 cm).

Notions: Fusible woven interfacing (20″/51 cm wide), 1 3/4 yd (1.6 m) for tote size or 1 1/8 yd (1 m) for project size; 1/2 yd (46 cm) of medium-weight fusible interfacing or fusible fleece (44″/1.1 m wide); zipper for front pocket (pattern assumes zipper tape width of 1″), 7″ (17.8 cm) for tote size or 6″ (15.2 cm) for project size; 1″ wide cotton webbing/leather for handles, 1 1/2 yd (or two 25″ pieces) for tote size or 1 yd (or two 18″ pieces) for project size; four 8 mm rivets and corresponding setting tool (optional); twill tape/ribbon/cord (no wider than 3/4″/ 1.9 cm) for drawstring closure, 2 1/2 yd (2.3 m) for tote size or 2 yd (1.83 m) for project size.
