Buy the Unisex Shirt sewing pattern from The Modern Sewing Co. This is a classic shirt with a neat but fairly broad shoulder and a very straight torso. Instead of narrowing towards the hips like typical male shaped cuts, there is slightly more room to accommodate the wider hip of more female body shapes. Even with this adjustment, the piece remains first and foremost a men’s shirt pattern, but one that anyone can wear based on their cut preferences.

This pattern comes with three different sleeve length options to tailor it to your personal requirements, and the construction process follows classic shirt making methods.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Lightweight denim, lightweight twill, cotton poplin, linen, flannel, needlecord/corduroy, wool suiting.

Fabric requirements: 

150 cm wide fabric: Sizes XS2 – M, 140 cm // Sizes L – XL3, 180 cm.

110 cm wide fabric: Sizes XS2 – M, 190 cm // Sizes L – XL3, 250 cm.

Sizing: XS2 – XL3 (approx. UK 6 – 26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’8″ and a cup size ‘C’.

Notions: 11 – 13 buttons, roughly 1 cm diameter (optional for chest pockets); 40 cm of mid/lightweight iron-on fusing.
