Lovely raincoat pattern!
(Excuse the Jack Russell photo bombing!)
My first time using waterproof fabric and it was surprisingly easy to sew! Go slowly, use a non-stick sewing foot, a microtex needle and you’re good to go!
As always with TATB patterns, the construction is simple and easy to follow. I wear a size 12/14 in ready to wear and cut a size 6, which was more than big enough, even with a jumper underneath.
There are helpful blog posts and videos on Tilly’s website if there are any steps that seem a bit difficult, including how to install the press studs and seal the seams to stop the rain getting in! The only thing I found tricky was pressing the seams, as you can’t use an iron on this type of fabric, so I had to finger press most of the outer layer seams, but they lay flat enough.
If you are wanting to give sewing a coat a go and putting it off as it seems too complicated, I really recommend taking the plunge with this cute, stylish pattern.
