Sew Over It – 1940s Tea Dress

This dress wasn’t too difficult to make, but there were some fitting issues. This pattern runs really big. Even having made a toile and adjusted the bodice pattern, once I got the skirt in I had to take it in even more. All I did was take in the side seams though, and it didn’t seem to affect the placement of the darts or anything else, so it was a simple fix. My only other issue was getting the V-neck to sit properly, I struggled a bit to get a nice sharp point. The pattern said to clip the seam allowances here, so I did, but I think that next time I make this dress I won’t do that. I think it would be easier to get it sit properly without clipping.

Really comfy to wear, and with a nice 1940s silhouette.
