Tulip top with clergy collar hack

I'm a Church of England priest and in the Clergy Sewing facebook group quite a few of the women have made the Tulip top with one sister's excellent collar hack (thank you). Size 20 pattern gave a nearly 20 inch neck (weird), so added some gathers round the back, made more gathers at the front and overlapped the tabs at the back to make it fit more closely.

Tana lawn from a very old stash (was orginally a dress for a Pride and Prejudice party in the '80s! The collar was from the black satin bodice, the fabric here reversed with quite a nice twill effect). French seams and I cut a piece that mirrored the hem (as wide as the sleeve cuff) to make the hem; maintaining the tulip shape with simple hemming was too daunting. Thinking I might try a long sleeve version, simply growing them on using the cuff dimension.

Floral Tulip Top

My version is made of chiffon silk and the Summer Tulip Top pattern is perfect for this type of fabrics. My finished version looks feminine and is a pleasure to wear. I made one alteration: My version has no center back seam and finished it with a slit and also gave the collar band at both sides an overlap, made buttonholes and the neckband closes with two small buttons. This Top looks perfect on jeans. Tucked in or loose both looks are stylish. I really like to make another version in the future. Looking forward to make it in a plane jersey version and finding out how it will look.
