This pattern is NOT EASY but worth persevering!

I had a Bad Sewing day with this coat but in the end I am very happy with it. However, there is no way this pattern can be classified as “Easy” (The Assembly Line’s own classification). I somehow managed to cut the right and left fronts back to front so following the instructions was extra tricky. Then my interfacing wouldn’t stick so I ripped it all out in disgust! I tried to make the version with the hidden button placket but could not follow the instructions and almost threw the lot on the fire! But I went for an angry walk and figured out I could revert to the version without the hidden button placket. Then I sewed the back on back to front but by this time I just decided to make it a feature and sewed 2 of the 4 pockets wrong side up as well. It really is worth the effort but I would advise anyone considering the hidden button placket to really read the instructions very well and opt for the easier version which looks really nice. I’ve made a lot of coats and other complex pieces so am by no means a beginner so hope my review avoids anyone else having a Bad Sewing Day! I used a lovely dark green twill by Merchant and Mills which was perfect for the look and feel. And I lined the sleeves as I think it gives a better finish.
