Some cotton jerseys are too structured to use for the binding and may create a bulky appearance. The dress will fit and feel different depending on the stretchiness and weight of your fabric, so the designer suggests making a toile first. If using fabric with high stretch or elastane/spandex content like rib knit or 4-way stretch, the designer suggests cutting one or two sizes smaller.
