Buy the Zoe Dress sewing pattern from Sew Over It. The Zoe Dress is a semi-fitted shift with beautiful design lines. It features princess seams at the front and back for gentle shaping, and french darts at the bust. Darts at the back neckline fit the dress to your shoulders, and a facing finishes the neckline beautifully. Zoe closes with a neat invisible zip at the centre back, and the front princess seams house everyone’s favourite in-seam pockets!

Zoe comes with two sleeve length options: a shorter sleeve for summer, and a classic 3/4 length sleeve for cooler weather. Perfect for work, this dress is the ultimate outfit-in-one for those days when you need to head out the door in a hurry. Practical yet chic, pair Zoe with a blazer for the office, then a chunky necklace and heels for an evening out.

Zoe dress - needle cord and cotton versions

Pleased with how this turned out and I’ve already worn it a lot. Comfortable and flattering. Worked well with slate coloured needle cord. Would probably grade down a size at the waist next time.

The second version is made of cotton from a roll end, meaning some of the colours don’t line up perfectly. But I love the finished dress, especially the pattern matching across the zip on the back.  It was my first attempt at this, and I think my niece Zoe will be equally impressed (she’s five).

Zoe Dress

This was a lovely make - I took a chance without making a muslin (!) and I think I just about got away with it! I had a lovely summery lemon Art Gallery lightweight cotton fabric which sewed very nicely. Cutting a straight 10 (my usual SOI size) it's perfect on the bust but I took it in slightly at the waist to give me more of a shape. It's just about ok on the hips but I'd better not put any weight on.... I'm getting more confident at sewing in concealed zips and this one worked well. Good dress for a beginner wanting to practise darts and zips.

Zoe Dress

I got the Zoe dress pattern at the knitting and stitching show in March when it was newly released as I really like the clean lines, princess type seams and the concealed front pockets.
I had read that the sleeves were very tight so I measured them before I cut anything out, as it happens they were perfectly fine needing no adjustment.
This pattern is straightforward and the instructions are really clear although I did get a bit confused at instruction 10 where it could have been clearer that you need to pin from THE BOTTOM of the armhole to the hem (yes ok, I pinned and stitched from the top of the side front piece to the hem and got a very odd result !!) apart from that it went together well. I made no adjustments for fit at all except to lengthen by 10cm as I am 5'7"and don't like anything above the knee. I used an african wax print fabric which I think has worked well although if you want to pattern match the back you will need more than the 2.5 yards than I had (having said that, this fabric was quite narrow at 122cm) I will definitely make this again.
