Elsie Dress

I made my Elsie dress out of this beautiful floral fabric. It has nice structure to it, which makes it perfect for this pattern. The bodice of the dress has princess seams, which makes it easier to fit. Beautiful neckline looks great on many different body types. It is not cut too low. This makes Elsie a good dress for many different kind of occasions.

Elsie’s hem has deep pleats and lots of fabric. I sew this kind of hems almost always by hand. This means that I spent a nice hour with small invisible stitches. The bodice of the dress is lined. The pattern includes separate pattern pieces for lining and facings. One of the best things about this dress is the lovely finished look it has once the lining it attached to the facing.

Sew Over It patterns fit my body type almost perfectly, which means I didn’t need to make any changes to this pattern. This was an easy make but at the same time very rewarding. I think this is a lovely pattern that I would recommend to anyone loving a nice full skirt.

Elsie Dress

I made this for a Chrismas party... the fabric is a stretch cotton/sateen with lining made from ... not sure!
Anyway, I found this a lovely dress to make, even though I didn't use the skirt from the pattern and just added my own.
I also made it a little too tight. Whilst it was made from stretch cotton, the lining had no stretch so I found overall it was a little tight.
Bodice was lengthened by about 1 inch.
I'll make this again but definitely allow for some breathing room in the bodice!
