Buy the Audrey Top sewing pattern from Sew Over It. Audrey is a vintage-inspired knit top straight out of Midge Maisel’s wardrobe! A t-shirt with a difference, Audrey’s ready to give any outfit a touch of elegance. The wide neckline has a deep neckband with three options. Choose from a standard flat neckband, add a cute little tie, or go big with a show-stopping bow. Audrey has raglan sleeves, making sewing the sleeves a dream – in fact, the whole thing comes together in just a few hours! Depending on the season, choose from short, three-quarter or full length sleeves.

Designed to be sewn in light to medium weight knits, Audrey looks beautiful in cable knits and pontes for cooler weather, but sews up equally well in cotton jerseys for when the sun comes out.

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight knit fabrics such as cotton jersey or ponte di roma. Avoid using viscose jersey or viscose blends, as the top needs fabric with some structure. Be sure to pick something with good stretch and good recovery.

Fabric requirements: Fabric requirements are given for the long sleeve version of the top. For the 3/4 sleeve version, subtract 0.1 m from the requirements. For the short sleeve version, subtract 0.25 m from the requirements.

Cable knit textured fabric Audrey Top - lovely once fit sorted.

Really pleased with outcome and enjoyed making this even though it took forever. Had a few fitting issues with front, bit baggy above bust and between bust and underarm area/raglan seam (my forward shoulder identified by Foldliners on FB - great fitting advice from everyone). Moved raglan seam lines on front about an inch towards middle and lowered middle neck seam line by about half/3/4". Pinning it inside out made a big difference and compensated for my lack of toile (naughty I know). Forgot to grade larger size hips so split seam at bottom. Also extended sleeve to full length as too short for my comfort otherwise, next time will remember to cut longer sleeve - not add a section! Glad I had this fabric as saw Lisa C had used this cable knit and thought it looked really nice and I'd been struggling to find a suitable pattern for it. NB This fabric can be tricky to unpick from so I didn't use the tiny recommended stitch length. If I made something similar again without a toile I'd machine baste the whole thing first before sewing properly, would have saved a lot of time with the fitting.
