Buy the Herba Apron sewing pattern from Sew Different. The Herba Apron is a classic, crossed back design that pulls on over the head. It can be made as a single layer or as a reversible double layer. There is a large feature pocket at the front.

Suggested fabrics: Cotton, linen, denim, needlecord.

Fabric requirements: 

150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.75 m per layer (buy double this quantity if you are making the double layer version).

112 cm (45″) wide fabric: Sizes 8 - 18, 2 m per layer (buy double this quantity if you are making the double layer version). Not suitable for sizes 20 - 26.

Sizing: UK 8 – 26 (approx. UK 8 – 24/26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart.

Simple pattern

This was one of the first things I made.
It was a good, simple project in cotton poplin as a beginner (the trickiest part was hemming curves as I hadn't done that before) but it would be much easier now with more sewing experience.

The apron is cute but not necessarily the most practical as the cross back makes it more difficult to get on and off, and sometimes one side will want to fall open/down if I'm bending forward.

I don't think I'll make another one but it was good experience for a novice.
