Buy the Zamora Skirt sewing pattern from Madswick. This is a simple, beginner-friendly pattern for a comfortable and versatile skirt. The Zamora features an elasticated waistband, two gathered tiers for fullness, and seven pintucks at varying widths to create interest.
Note: The PDF pattern includes a paperless option. As the pattern pieces are simple rectangles, you can skip printing the pattern and draw the pieces directly onto your fabric instead. The paperless guide includes all the measurements you need as well as a print-at-home marking ruler (two pages) which you can use to quickly and accurately mark the tucks.
A matching children's pattern is available here.
This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:
– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?
– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?
Note if purchasing copy shop printing: One of the pattern pieces is divided across two A0 sheets. The two sheets will need to be joined.
Suggested fabrics: Light to mid-weight fabrics are recommended for this pattern. Choose a nice crisp cotton or linen for a more structured look, or a tencel for a flowy drapey feel. This pattern is excellent for old bed sheets as it requires a lot of fabric. You may need to cut pieces on the cross grain, so consider this when selecting fabric with a directional print.
Fabric requirements: 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric: 4 - 5.25 yd (3.6 - 4.8 m) // 56″ (142 cm) wide fabric: 3.25 - 5.25 yd (3 - 4.8 m).
All yardage measurements are taken with the fabric laid out on the cross grain. You may need more fabric if you choose to use a directional or graphic print in order to pattern match.
Sizing: A – E (approx. UK 6/8 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
This pattern is drafted for a 5'6" (1.6 m) height.
Notions: 1.25-1.5″ (3-3.5 cm) wide elastic (see chart); marking pen/chalk (heat-resistant is preferred so you can iron throughout) and quilting ruler.
PDF pattern includes: Instructions; marking ruler for paperless option (2 pages); A4 print-at-home pattern (43 pages); US letter print-at-home pattern (45 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
