Everyday skirt

I was looking for a reasonably quick sew that would show off some gorgeous cotton I got recently (Sommer by Sarah Jane collection) and the Everyday Skirt looked like it would fit the bill. And it did! It took me about half a day and I really loved the instructions from Liesl + Co - they're definitely up there with the best I've seen. I'm a beginner sewist and really appreciate the sort of clear directions with illustrations that were provided here.

The pattern comes as a pdf and is one of the better ones I've put together as each pattern piece is drafted separately with some clever use of space. It means you don't end up with a huge unwieldy pattern on your kitchen table, which is nice! As far as the pattern design goes - it's great. The skirt has two side panels as well as the front and back, and these give the skirt a lovely gentle shape, even when you're using a slightly sturdier cotton, as I was. The waistband is flat on the front and elasticated at the back, which makes it flattering AND comfy. The pattern also features deep pockets, which is a win on any pattern!

I cut a size Large and would say there is a fair bit of leeway. I am currently measuring a bit larger than that, but the elasticated waist helps; plus the skirt is designed at your low waist, not natural waist, so you can size down if you like it higher. All in all, this is a well-drafted pattern, leading to a very satisfying wardrobe staple kind-of-make. I will definitely be making more!
