Klum House Maywood Totepack

Buy the Maywood Totepack sewing pattern from Klum House. The Maywood Totepack converts from backpack to tote with the pull of a strap! It features strong leather straps, a zipper closure, an exterior pocket with a magnetic snap, and an interior pocket large enough to hold a 15" laptop.

Note: All Klum House patterns are designed for success on a home sewing machine. You do not need a fancy sewing machine or industrial equipment to make these “domestic machine friendly” patterns.

Suggested fabrics: 

For the exterior, choose a fabric that will give the bag plenty of structure, such as a 9-12 oz. canvas, waxed canvas, or denim with no stretch. The designer’s favourite exterior fabric is waxed canvas for its structure, durability, and water resistance.

For the lining, use a 10-12 oz. cotton, canvas, or denim with no stretch. The designer’s favourite lining fabric is 10 oz. natural canvas because it provides added structure and its light colour makes it easy to find things in the bag.

The Maywood requires a specific leather weight for the convertible strap system to work properly. The designer recommends 8-10 oz. leather for durable and comfortable straps. The zipper pull and washers are the only leather pieces that should be lighter weight (5-7 oz.).

Fabric requirements: 

Main: 45-60" (114-152 cm) wide fabric: 5/8 yd (0.6 m).

Accent: 45-60" (114-152 cm) wide fabric: 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Lining: 45-60" (114-152 cm) wide fabric: 5/8 yd (0.6 m).

Leather: 180" x 3/4" leather strips (8-10 oz.) + 5" x 2" leather scrap (5-7 oz.).

Sizing: Finished dimensions: 16 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W (bottom) / 15" W (top) x 5" D (42 cm x 27 cm / 38 cm x 13 cm).
