Buy the Emmie Tee sewing pattern from Jennifer Lauren Handmade. Let your inner designer shine! Combine any number of knit fabrics for a truly unique Emmie Tee.

View 1 is ready to tackle your knit fabric scrap pile by combining the classic 80s slashed and pieced bodice with grown-on sleeves and a rounded neckline. The fabric combinations you can put together are endless - go for full rainbow, neutral colour-block or pattern-clash perfection. You can even keep your top more subtle by using the same plain fabric throughout and letting the design lines speak for themselves.

Or if a classic tee is more up your street, there’s also a cut-on-the fold front bodice (View 2), making construction even quicker and simpler for those just starting on their knit fabric sewing journey.

With a more relaxed fit through the bodice and a very gentle dropped shoulder/grown-on sleeve, both views include cut lines for a classic length and a longline hem length. Then, depending on the season, keep the cuffed grown-on short sleeves or use the simple turn-and-hem long sleeve pattern piece for year-round comfort.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Look for medium weight knit fabrics with good stretch across the grain. Knits should have 40% stretch with good recovery. Cotton/elastane (spandex/lycra) mixes are the best choice for Emmie. Look for fabric weights around 180 gsm. If using multiple fabrics, try to keep these the same weight and composition as each other for a more uniformly finished top.

Fabric requirements: Extra may be required for pattern/print matching or adding length. The fabric requirements for View 1 assume you are using the same fabric for all pieces, but the designer encourages you to rummage through your stash and use multiple knit fabrics for your own unique design!

View 1: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: Short sleeve, 1 - 1.75 m (1.09 - 1.91 yd) // Long sleeve, 1.5 - 2 m (1.64 - 2.18 yd).

View 2: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: Short sleeve, 0.75 - 1.75 m (0.82 - 1.91 yd) // Long sleeve, 1.25 - 2.25 m (1.36 - 2.46 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 24 with A/B and C/D cups or UK 16 – 34 with C/D and E/F cups. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Note: There is a crossover of 2 cups (C and D) and 5 sizes (16 – 24) between the Original and Curve size ranges. The Original and Curve patterns are based on two different blocks, and because of this, the shape, ease and proportions of the crossover patterns vary depending on the block used. Please check both size charts if you fall into this range.

To determine your cup size, wear supportive undergarments, then keeping your tape measure parallel to the floor (make sure it is not dipping at the back), measure both your full bust (the widest part of your bust, all the way around) and your high bust (the upper part of your bust around and under the arm pits). Use the difference between these measurements to determine your approximate cup size: A cup = 1 cm (3/8″), B cup = 3 cm (1 1/4″), C cup = 5 cm (2″), D cup = 7.5 cm (3″), E cup = 10 cm (4″), F cup = 12.5 cm (4 7/8″). Then, to determine your bodice size, find your full bust measurement (or closest to) along your corresponding cup row on the size chart.

Emmie is drafted for an average height of 170 cm (5'7″).

Notions: Ballpoint or stretch needle.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (62 pages for sizes 6-24, 75 pages for sizes 16-34); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets for sizes 6-24, 4 sheets for sizes 16-34) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.

A fun pattern for leftover fabric!

I'm always keen to find new ways of using leftover fabric, so I was fairly quick to buy the Emmie tee when the pattern was released.

It's a nice project to make - I had fun going through my jersey leftovers to find the right combination of fabrics, and I really enjoyed the sewing process. The instructions are excellent, and the way the front is pieced together makes it fairly easy to sew. It takes a bit longer than a "normal" t-shirt obviously, but it's not tricky at all.

The difference between my high bust/full bust falls just below the C cup range but definitely above the B cup so I decided to use the C/D cup option, and used the sizes recommended for my measurements. I'm pleased with how it turned out - it's a relaxed fit as intended, but definitely not too big and baggy.

I've already got fabrics lined up to make a second version, which is always the sign of a good pattern!
