What we think: We love this classic shape, and it's perfect for a bit of scrap busting - use up your leftovers for the elbow patches, or even add contrasting cuffs.

Suggested fabrics: Look for medium weight, low-stretch sweatshirt knit fabrics. View 1 contrast neckband and elbow patches can be made with medium weight, loosely woven fabrics such as wool. Elbow patches can also be made from leather, denim and other stiffer woven fabrics.

Fabric requirements: Extra fabric may be required for pattern matching and directional prints.

View 1: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2 m (2.19 yd) // Contrast neckline and patches (any width fabric): 1 m (1.09 yd) // Note: 2 m will accommodate contrast neckband and patches made from same fabric.

View 2: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2 m (2.19 yd).

Sizing: XS - XXL. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Matching thread; ball point needle; 30 cm (11.5") length of 1.5 cm (5/8") wide stay tape (twill, ribbon, clear elastic, etc.); 80 cm (31.5") of 50 cm (20") wide knit interfacing; five buttons, 4 cm (1 5/8") diameter max.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (59 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets).

Auden cardigan

I was chosen this month to review the Auden cardigan by Jennifer Lauren Handmade, yay! I have been promising the Husband a handmade piece of clothing for quite a while so I was very pleased to be chosen. I love the saddle shoulder detail and slim fit body of this cardigan. I made View 2 and cut a size medium, which I graded down to a small at the waist. I also added 4cm to the length at the 'lengthen/shorten' point due to the Husband having a long torso, in RTW garments he sizes up to avoid belly button grazing tops! The cardigan fits really well across his shoulders and his waist/hips. The sleeves are a good length too, defiantly not short and I feel the measurements given on the pattern to chose the size required are spot on. I would highly recommend this pattern for its ease of sewing and fit. It came together really well and I enjoyed sewing it. I can see more in the Husbands wardrobe as well as family.
