Buy the Sitka Sweatshirt sewing pattern from Hey June Handmade. The Sitka Sweatshirt is a casual, cropped, shrunken sweatshirt in three views. View A is simple, with cuffed sleeves and hem, a crew neckline, and dropped sleeves. View B has a chevron-shaped colourblock seam, and View C adds one more chevron seam for a centre stripe. Views B and C both have the same pattern repeated on the back of the sweatshirt, or use the back from View A to keep it simple.

The term “shrunken” indicates that the Sitka Sweatshirt is more cropped in overall length and in sleeve length as compared to a regular oversized sweatshirt. It fits closer to the body, but it is not tight. It has a casual drop sleeve, providing extra room through the bust for a comfortable fit. The sleeves are designed to hit just past the wrist bone, and the hem is designed to hit at the high hip, just covering the waistband on mid-rise jeans. The crewneck sits higher up without being restricting.

Suggested fabrics: Nearly any knit fabric will work well for Sitka. It is designed for sweatshirt fleece with at least 20% stretch with coordinating ribbing for the bands. French terry with spandex is also an ideal stretch and weight, and can be used for the body and the bands. Lighter weight knits will result in a drapey, loose, long-sleeved tee.

Fabric requirements:

Sizes 0 - 20: 55" (140 cm) wide fabric: View A, 1 3/4 yd (1.6 m) // View B sleeves and wristbands, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View B lower sweatshirt and waistband, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View B upper sweatshirt and neckband, 1/2 yd (0.5 m) // View C sleeves and wristbands, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View C lower sweatshirt and waistband, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View C upper sweatshirt and neckband, 1/2 yd (0.5 m) / View C middle sweatshirt, 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Sizes 14 - 30: 55" (140 cm) wide fabric: View A, 2 yd (1.8 m) // View B sleeves and wristbands, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View B lower sweatshirt and waistband, 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m) / View B upper sweatshirt and neckband, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) // View C sleeves and wristbands, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) / View C lower sweatshirt and waistband, 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m) / View C upper sweatshirt and neckband, 1/2 yd (0.5 m) / View C middle sweatshirt, 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Note: To use a separate rib knit for the bands, use 1/2 yd (0.5 m) of 55" (140 cm) wide rib knit, or 1/4 yd (0.2 m) if cutting each set of bands in a different fabric. Subtract these amounts from the fabric requirements above.
