Buy the Ruby Overalls sewing pattern from Helen's Closet. The Ruby Overalls are fun to wear and quick to sew! Ruby features an elasticated back that creates shaping at the waist while still being comfortable to sit and move around in. Two lengths are provided so you can make cropped pant Ruby Overalls or summer shorts! Ruby includes the option for overalls hardware buckles or you can simply sew the straps into the bib and step in and out. Anchored in-seam pockets make Ruby both functional and fashionable. This pattern works well in many different types of fabric, from flowy rayon challis to structured denim. Make your dream overalls with Ruby!

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton (chambray, lawn, quilting cotton, flannel), denim, hemp, canvas, rayon/viscose, and Tencel will work well. Stiffer fabrics will have more structure and drapier fabrics will have more fluid movement. The designer recommends fabrics with a maximum weight of 10 oz. (340 gsm) due to the elastic in the back waist.

Fabric requirements:

View A (pants view): 57" (145 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 4 yd (2.7 - 3.7 m) // 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 3.3 - 4.7 yd (3 - 4.3 m).

View B (shorts view): 57" (145 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.8 yd (1.8 - 2.6 m) // 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 2.2 - 3.6 yd (2 - 3.3 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This is such a cute pattern, I loved making it and wearing it even more. The elastic back makes it really flattering whilst giving you plenty of room for comfort and having the front waistband just be regular means you don’t have elastic pushing into your waist, which if you’re someone like me who tends to bloat then you know the discomfort of that!

I made my version is a dreamy tencel twill and it’s so flowy and drapey. As always with Helen’s closet the instructions are second to none and there are so many helpful tips sprinkled throughout. I reach for mine all the time and I have plans to make more for spring. This is such a perfect pattern!
