Buy the Kirsi Cardigan sewing pattern from Forget-me-not Patterns. Kirsi is a refined take on the casual cardigan, blending tailored lines with a draped front opening. The front design line curves around the body and through the back waist, complementing the round collar and flared peplum.

There are two lengths to choose from: a longer length ending at mid-thigh, or a shorter peplum length that ends above the hip. Style the collar open for a waterfall front, or create optional closures for a cosy finish around the neck. You can also cinch the waist with the tie belt.

Mid-weight knit fabric and simple sewing techniques make Kirsi a great project for sewists new to knits. And yet, the curved lines and variety of finishing options will keep it interesting for sewists of all levels!

Note: Kirsi first appeared in TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 1. This standalone PDF version has new sizing complete with two bust options.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Medium-weight knit fabrics with at least 10% horizontal stretch, that look good on both wrong side and right side, such as double knit/interlock knits, waffle knit, ponte, lightweight boiled wool. To hide the wrong side, choose the lined flounce option.

Fabric requirements: The fabric requirements allow for directional prints. Allow extra fabric if lengthening the garment, or matching a large print.

Short view: 113 cm (44") wide fabric: 2.4 - 2.8 m (2.7 - 3.1 yd) // 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 2.1 - 2.8 m (2.3 - 3.1 yd).

Long view: 113 cm (44") wide fabric: 2.7 - 3.1 m (3 - 3.4 yd) // 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 2.3 - 3 m (2.6 - 3.3 yd).

Self-lined flounce: This requires the front and back flounce pieces to be cut twice. Allow an extra 1.6 m (1.8 yd) for the long view, or 1.2 m (1.4 yd) for the short view.

Sizing: 28 – 52 (approx. UK 4 – 28, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern comes in two bust sizes. To determine your size, measure your high bust and bust. The bust is measured around the body at the fullest part of the bust. The high bust is measured diagonally up and over the bust (see the diagram in the image gallery).

Use these measurements in conjunction with your known cup size to determine which bust fit to make. If the difference between your high bust and bust is 1" to 3" (B to C cup), use Medium bust. If the difference is 3″ plus (D cup plus), use Full bust.

Forget-me-not patterns are designed for a height of 5'6" (168 cm).

Notions: Thread; a small amount of lightweight fusible interfacing (you may use pre-made fusible tape, or cut your own (1cm/3/8" wide)); 2 pairs of 1 cm (3/8”) diameter snap fastenings (also known as press studs, domes, or poppers).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (40 pages for either bust size); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets for either bust size); projector pattern. The PDF files are layered so you can print just the size(s) you need.

Amazing cardigan. Already made two. Comes together like a dream

I’m getting so much wear out of this design. Love love love. Perfectly drafted, different fits available. Instructions are clear, great visuals. Comes together like a dream. I’ve lengthened mine because I’m tall and made the self lined flounced version. Am asked where I bought it every time it’s worn. On high wardrobe rotation and I’m happy now that I have one winter weight and one summer weight one. You won’t be disappointed.
