Buy the Iris Pleated Tee sewing pattern from Forget-me-not Patterns. Iris is a knit tee that is easy to sew and easy to wear! If you want to stick with a classic basic, there are plain sleeve options in short and three-quarter lengths. But if you crave something just a little more interesting, there are two pleated options for the sleeves. Both pleat designs feature cleverly intersecting pleats which are surprisingly simple to sew. Iris has a women’s t-shirt fit which includes waist shaping without being clingy. The neckline is a classic crew neck.

All sorts of knits work for this design. Emphasise the sculptural details of the pleats in a double knit, or let them drape in a slinky viscose. Or simply sew a classic tee with plain sleeves in a cotton t-shirting!

anything-but-basic T-shirt

This is pleated Iris Tee is an amazing of  an anything-but-basic T-shirt.

I made the 3/4 sleeve version in size 36 grated down at the hips in size 34.

The outcome? Perfect fit and great pleated details.

Instructions with illustrations are easy to follow. There's also a video available to watch for the pleated short sleeves.

Next step? Making a short sleeve version of course.

Navy tencel Iris

I recently tried the Iris tee for the first time. I was attracted by the lovely fold detail in the sleeve which is a great alternative to the popular gathered sleeve cap. When I put it on my family all said it looked great! Although slightly fiddly to do, the instructions are very clear and the finished garment is elevated beyond a simple tee.

This pattern has 5cm of negative ease at the bust so requires fabric with plenty of stretch. I used navy tencel gifted to me by Good Fabric as part of a blog post. I love the solid colour which is great for displaying the fold detail.

Best drafted pattern I have ever used

Super top - I am absolutely delighted with how it fits and how easy it was to sew.

I did a 1 inch FBA and a 1 inch bicep adjustment.  I had never done a bicep adjustment before so  I followed the blog on forget me not patterns website and it was easy.

This is such a great pattern for a twist on a basic t-shirt.  I am so glad I purchased it and plan to make many more.

I liked the drafting and instructions so much I have just bought all the other forget me not patterns!

Iris Pleated Tee

The Iris Tee is the perfect T-shirt pattern if, like me you like your tshirts with a little bit of interest! The dreamy pleats on the sleeves are set off nicely by the dainty cuffs and the bodice has nice shaping at the waist so it looks like a smart top. I cut a size 37 with no pattern adjustments. The fabric is a gorgeously soft and slinky bamboo jersey from Raystitch.

The pattern instructions were very clear and the pattern also includes plain versions of both the short and long sleeves.  Both cotton jersey or viscose/bamboo jersey work well for both versions depending on how crisps you want the pleats to be.
