Buy the Clementine Knit Dress and Top sewing pattern from Forget-me-not Patterns. Clementine features princess seams which follow the curves of the body. The top version offers a more tailored look than a basic t-shirt, while still being incredibly comfy and easy to wear. The dress version finishes just above the knee, and flares out below the waist into a swishy, full skirt. It also features the option of in-seam pockets. Choose a versatile scoop neck, or a stylish high cowl neck for a subtle touch of elegance. The sleeve also comes in three different lengths. Despite its extra details, Clementine is still an easy sew and a great introduction to working with knit fabrics. Sew Clementine for everyday style, or break out your fancy fabric for a stylish evening look!

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium-weight knit fabrics with at least 10% horizontal stretch. Both two-way stretch and four-way stretch fabrics are suitable. Suggested fabrics include cotton jersey, viscose jersey, merino jersey, light to medium-weight double knits, and sweater knits. For the cowl variation, fabrics with a soft drape are ideal. If sewing in-seam pockets, avoid thin or very drapey fabrics. This pattern is not suitable for stripes.

Fabric requirements: These are calculated using the longest sleeve and the cowl neck. Allow extra fabric for directional prints.

Top: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Sizes 28 - 40, 1.5 m (1.7 yd) // Sizes 36 - 48, 1.6 m (1.8 yd).

Dress: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Sizes 28 - 40, 2.3 m (2.5 yd) // Sizes 36 - 48, 2.4 m (2.6 yd).

Sizing: 28 - 48 (approx. UK 4 - 24) with two separate bust options (medium bust and full bust). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements. Forget-me-not patterns are designed for a height of 5'6" (168 cm). Clementine is designed with negative ease in the bust for a fitted silhouette.

Choosing your bust fit: Measure your high bust and bust. The bust is measured around the body at the fullest part of the bust. The high bust is measured diagonally up and over the bust. Compare the measurements, and use this in conjunction with your known cup size to determine with bust fit to make. If the difference between your high bust and full bust is 1" - 3" (B cup - C cup) use the medium bust. If the difference between your high bust and bust is 3" plus (D cup plus), use the full bust.

Notions: Thread; a small amount of lightweight fusible interfacing (you may use pre-made fusible tape, or cut your own 1 cm/3/8" wide).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (40 pages for each bust size); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets for each bust size). This PDF is layered so you can print only the size(s) you need.

Clementine Knit Dress a dream to sew

I highly recommend the Clementine knit dress pattern by Forget-me-not patterns.  This was the first knit item that I have ever sewn and I consider the thing a small miracle given knit items usually make me feel frumpy rather than fabulous.

What I loved about the pattern:

,Thorough clear instructions - both words and pictures.  Informative but not condescending
,True sizing and assistance selecting the sizing for those of us that aren't straight up & down
,No grading gremlins emerged.  Rock solid pattern.
,Tips and tricks - this designer is generous sharing their knowledge to help you improve your skills
,It looks awesome on! - I get a compliment or 3 every time I wear this dress.

Anything I didn't like?

,The rayon knit I selected was blimmem slippery but can't blame the pattern for that.  Needed a few wines to calm my nerves after cutting it out.

I think you can buy this pattern with confidence.  I've seen it made up now as the top (both scoop and high cowl version) and dress in a variety of knits across a wide range of body shapes and sizes.  It always looks flattering on.     Just buy it!!   A+++
