Inspired by vintage fashion, Barberry is designed to fit within a modern wardrobe and to be comfortable and easy to wear. Barberry has an eight-panel bodice, notched collar, two-piece sleeves, and a full lining. The instructions will support you to sew all of Barberry’s features, which include welt pockets, pocket flaps, and sleeve vents. Barberry is designed to be worn over a single layer such as a shirt or blouse.

Suggested fabrics:

Jacket Body: Medium weight suitings or light to medium weight coatings in wool, tweed, brocade or cotton. Due to the bodice seam lines, patterned fabrics which require seam matching are not recommended.

Lining: Light to medium weight lining fabrics, including acetate, cupro, and silk.

Fabric requirements: All fabric requirements are based on one directional cutting.

Sizes 4 - 22 / B cup:

Main fabric: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.4 - 2.7 m (2 3/4 - 3 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.9 - 2 m (2 1/4 yd).

Lining fabric: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 1.9 - 2.4 m (2 1/4 - 2 3/4 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.4 - 1.6 m (1 1/2 - 1 3/4 yd).

Sizes 20 - 36 / D cup:

Main fabric: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.8 - 3.1 m (3 - 3 1/2 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.1 - 2.4 m (2 1/4 - 2 3/4 yd).

Lining fabric: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2 - 2.7 m (2 1/4 - 3 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.5 - 1.9 m  (1 3/4 - 2 1/4 yd).

Sizing: UK 4 - 36. This pattern includes two size ranges: UK 4 - 22 based on a B cup block (a 2" difference between your high bust and full bust measurements) and UK 20 - 36 based on a D cup block (a 4" difference between your high bust and full bust measurements). There is an overlap at sizes 20 - 22 where you can choose which size range you would like to use. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Barberry is designed to be slim fitting and worn over a single layer such as a shirt or blouse. If you would prefer to wear the jacket over additional layers, take your measurements over your clothing. The designer suggests selecting based on your bust size and grading between sizes as necessary at the waist and hips. The pattern is designed to have a closer fit at the bust and waist, with exaggerated ease at the hips.

Notions: Medium weight fusible interfacing (woven or weft insertion recommended, 90 cm/35" wide), 1.9 m (2 1/4 yd) for B cup sizes or 3 m (3 1/4 yd) for D cup sizes; light weight fusible interfacing (woven or weft insertion recommended, 90 cm/35" wide), 0.9 m (1 yd) for B cup sizes or 1.4 m (1 1/2 yd) for D cup sizes; fusible edge tape, 4 m (4.4 yd) x 20 mm (5/8") wide, or create your own by cutting strips of fusible interfacing; two shoulder pads; two sleeve heads, or small scraps of wool, fleece or flannel fabric to create your own; four 19 mm (3/4") buttons for the sleeves; three 25 mm (1") buttons for the jacket front; thread.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (58 pages for sizes 4-22, 70 pages for sizes 20-36); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets for sizes 4-22, 4 sheets for sizes 20-36); projector file. This pattern has layers, so you can print just the size(s) you need.

I didn’t make it easy for myself my choosing a check I used the waistline as my guide to line up the check. It has an equestrian feel and I love the femininity of this Jacket.
