Suggested fabrics: Long pile fabric types such as fleece, plush or teddy fabric. It also looks great in a heavy knit fabric.
Fabric requirements: Includes 10% extra for waste and shrinkage.
Option 1 (normal length): 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.80 - 2.25 m.
Option 2 (cropped length): 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.60 - 2.00 m.
Sizing: XS – XL (approx. UK 6 – 18/20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: One 25 cm one-way zipper (not separable); elastic cord, approx. 1.00 - 1.30 m; 2 cord stoppers.

After hunting for ages to find the perfect half zip top (I can be really picky when I get a style idea in my head). I’d almost resigned myself to the fact I would have to draft one myself, then I saw the Nela top. It was perfect, I really liked the simplicity of the pieces. No extra pattern pieces and random cutouts, just a few clean and simple pattern pieces, perfect.
I decided to lengthen mine as I didn’t have the notions for the elasticated waist and I was too impatient to order them and wait for them to be shipped. I also again liked the simplicity of a plain hem.
It sewed up nicely, but I will say the instructions were quite bare bones and I had to do a lot of sewing from experience. However, that aside I absolutely love how it turned out. I used a fleece fabric and it is so warm and comfy, I pull it on every winter.
There are loads of great options out there if you want an option for colour blocking but what I love about this is the front and back are just two pattern pieces so my fabric print stayed intact and they don’t have to get broken up when tetrising pieces together.
