The Perfect Transitional Blouse

I chose a STUNNING Strawberry Flowers viscose from Lamazi Fabrics for my first Olivia Blouse.

It’s my first time using an Atelier Jupe pattern and most of the instructions were pretty straightforward, although the placket was a little confusing – thankfully I’ve made plackets before, so I had a good idea of how it should come together. I also felt the centre front, where you cut down into for the placket, needed reinforcing. So I added a small square of interfacing at the ‘triangle’ on the pattern where the bottom of the placket would sit.

It all came together well and the collar and cuffs went on nicely with all the gathering. I used French seams throughout, as I always prefer the neater finish inside, plus they’re a little stronger on lightweight fabric. The size chart put me at a 10-12 for the bust, 8 waist, and 10 hips (I’m 37″, 28″, 39″, 28GG). As it's got plenty of ease, I cut a size 10, graded to an 8 at the waist and the fit's spot on.

I’m delighted with how this blouse has turned out with its summer-into-autumn vibe – it’s the perfect transitional piece.

This is definitely a pattern I’ll make again and I’d also like to make the dress version at some point too.

Perfect boho blouse

This is the beautiful Atelier Jupe Olivia Blouse in a viscose challis. A beautiful fabric combined with a beautiful blouse pattern. I made up the size 38 (UK size 10) in accordance with my bust measurement of 35 inches. I checked the finished measurements for ease because I didn't want it too oversize. It was 5 inches which is perfect for a blouse style like this.
The instructions are very good. Just be mindful that you have to trace off the pattern as the pieces are printed on both sides of the printed pattern paper.
Next time I would add a small piece of interfacing to the inside of the front panel at the bottom of the placket to reinforce that area.
The one change I made is lengthening the sleeves by 5 inches and taking 1 inch from the cuff which now hits my lower forearm.
It's a lovely quality viscose, not too light nor too heavy. I LOVE this print!
