Sailor-Style Pants Sans Side Seams

A pair of high-waisted sailor-inspired pants with no side seams. You'd think it'll be hard to get a good fit, but miraculously, I made a size 2 with zero modifications, and they fit me beautifully. The cut of the pants is very flattering for me, and looks to be so on everybody else who have attempted this make.

Both fabrics used are cotton needlecord gifted to me by Minerva for a post on their website.

Persephone Pants

This was the first pants pattern I have ever tried. I found the instructions to be very clear and the fit true to size. I've made two pairs now and am very keen to make a third.

White Persephone Pants

I wanted white Persephone pants for a while now and I finally made them. I used this white stretch denim so they are extra comfortable. I cut out the smallest size of the pattern due to stretch in the fabric which meant sizing down 1 size in the waist and 2 sizes in the hips. I used a smaller seam allowance on the inner leg seam - o.5 cm.
I love them but I am afraid they will not be white for too long :) Let's see how that goes.

They were easy to construct and are a great pattern, I couldn't recommend it enough!

Persephone Pants and Shorts PDF review

This is a great pattern, surprisingly quick and easy. Once you get the fit right for differet fabrics (e.g. lightweight and heavyweight) you can win these beauties up in a couple of hours.
If you are a pants neophyte, this pattern is for you: Anna Allen really holds your hand every step of the way. The illustrations are also good.

I love the high waist and the lack of side seams. I dont like the pockets, tho. My waist is very small and no matter where I place the pockets, they always end up sitting on the curve of my waist, therefore being useless.
As for fabric, I made three versions over the years: one in cotton duck canvas, a shorts version in heavyweight linen chambray, and a last one (pictured here) in linen.
I made several pattern alterations: Swayback, graded the waist to a size 0 from a size 4, removed about 1 cm from the inner thigh.
Overall I really recommend this patter. It works well in a variety of fabrics, tho it really shines in a stiff, heavyweight one.
