Buy the Spring Trousers sewing pattern from The Modern Sewing Co. The Spring Trousers have been designed with a voluminous cut for a breezy and effortless feel. They have wide legs with front pleats and a semi-elasticated back to keep a smart feel while also being very comfortable. Other features include a zip fly, double button waist fastening, and slanted side pockets that are nice and deep. Originally intended for breezy summer wearing in linens or silks, this pattern also works well in corduroys, twills and wools for winter.

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: For summer: light/medium denims, cottons, silks, sturdy linen (note linen will crease) // For winter: heavy denims, heavy brushed twills, wool suiting, corduroy.

Fabric requirements: 

150 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 230 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 240 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 250 cm.

110 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 230 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 260 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 325 cm.

Sizing: UK 4 – 28 (approx. UK 4/6 – 26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’8″.

Notions: 2 buttons, roughly 1 – 1.5 cm diameter; 40 cm of mid/lightweight iron-on fusing; 40 cm x 100 cm cotton pocketing fabric; binding (shop bought, or if you’d like to use the same fabric as for your pockets you’ll need a 70 cm x 150 cm strip of pocketing fabric); 4/5 cm wide elastic; 16 – 18 cm zip.
