Suggested fabrics: 

Main fabric: Light- to medium-weight stretch knit fabric with 40-60% 4-way stretch and good recovery, such as jersey, scuba, stretch mesh, stretch velvet.

Crotch lining: Small piece of cotton jersey, bamboo jersey or similar fabric with natural fibre content.

Fabric requirements: 

Sizes 6 – 16: Main fabric, 0.5 m (5/8 yd) of 140 cm (56″) or 115 cm (45″) wide fabric // Crotch lining, 0.25 x 0.25 m (3/8 x 3/8 yd) // Narrow stretch lace or fold over elastic (FOE), 1 m (1 1/8 yd) for waistline + 1.5 m (1 3/4 yd) for leg openings.

Sizes 18 – 24: Main fabric, 0.6 m (5/8 yd) of 140 cm (56″) or 115 cm (45″) wide fabric // Crotch lining, 0.25 x 0.25 m (3/8 x 3/8 yd) // Narrow stretch lace or fold over elastic (FOE), 1.2 m (1 3/8 yd) for waistline + 1.7 m (1 7/8 yd) for leg openings.

Sizes 26 – 34: Main fabric, 0.6 m (5/8 yd) of 140 cm (56″) wide fabric or 1.1 m (1 1/4 yd) of 115 cm (45″) wide fabric // Crotch lining, 0.25 x 0.25 m (3/8 x 3/8 yd) // Narrow stretch lace or fold over elastic (FOE), 1.4 m (1 5/8 yd) for waistline + 1.9 m (2 1/8 yd) for leg openings.

Notions: Narrow stretch lace, 20 – 40 mm (3/4″ – 1 1/2″) wide and/or fold over elastic (FOE), 15 – 20 mm (5/8″ – 3/4″) wide; all purpose polyester thread to match your fabric, lace and/or FOE; sewing machine with adjustable zigzag stitch and stretch needle // Optional: Overlocker (serger).

NOTE: Most stretch laces are suitable for all leg opening heights and the low waist opening. If you want to use lace for the high and mid waist openings, make sure your lace has a similar stretch percentage to your main fabric (40-60%).
