Buy the Rê Coat sewing pattern from I AM Patterns. I am Rê, a classic duffle coat. I am an iconic, timeless garment loaded with the elements and details of the original Montgomery coat: toggle closures, a three-piece hood with a button tab, shoulder yokes, two large patch pockets with flaps, and a two-piece sleeve with a tightening tab. I have a straight cut but still feel fitted. I have two length options: hip and mid-thigh. I am a classic garment that will delight all sewists looking to create a long-lasting wardrobe.

Outer: Wool coating such as duffle, boiled wool, wool gabardine, melton, tweed, bouclette…

Lining: Lightweight fabrics such as duchess satin, cupro, habutai, polyester lining…

A: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 235 – 260 cm (2 5/8 – 2 7/8 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 280 – 340 cm (3 1/8 – 3 3/4 yd).

A Lining: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 175 – 200 cm (2 – 2 1/4 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 190 – 255 cm (2 1/8 – 2 7/8 yd).

B: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 265 – 290 cm (2 7/8 – 3 1/4 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 310 – 370 cm (3 3/8 – 4 1/8 yd).

B Lining: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 190 – 215 cm (2 1/8 – 2 3/8 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 220 – 290 cm (2 3/8 – 3 1/4 yd).

Sizing: EU 34 – 52 (approx. UK 6 – 18, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’5″ and a B cup.

Notions: Toggle fastenings (see below); 4 buttons, 18 mm (3/4″) diameter; cardboard for ironing template // Optional: iron-on interfacing, 80 cm x 90 cm (31″ x 35″).

If purchasing toggle fastenings: A: 4 pairs of 13 cm (5″) long fastenings // B: 5 pairs of 13 cm (5″) long fastenings.

If sewing toggle fastenings using the pattern piece provided (note piece 21 is designed to be cut in leather or a fabric that doesn’t fray): A: 4 toggle buttons and 110 cm (1 1/4 yd) of drawstring // B: 5 toggle buttons and 130 cm (1 1/2 yd) of drawstring.
