Buy the Helene Selvedge Jeans sewing pattern from Anna Allen. The Helene Selvedge Jeans are traditional high waist non-stretch jeans. This pattern is based on heritage denim jeans from the 1930s-1960s. It has traditional five pocket styling including two front scoop pockets, a coin pocket inside the right front pocket, and two pointed patch pockets on the back. Helene also features slight hip shaping while keeping the side selvedge seams unaltered from hip to hem. It has a V-shaped back yoke and a traditional straight waistband with belt loops. The instructions detail how to install a concealed button fly and a zipper fly. Four leg style options are included: View A – Straight, View B – Slim Straight, View C – Wide, and View D – Shorts.

Suggested fabrics:

10-15 oz. selvedge denim, other non-stretch denim or drill. Any other bottom weight woven fabric can be used, including cotton canvas, twill, corduroy, etc.

5-6 oz. cotton twill (Kaufman Kobe Twill in either white or natural “bone”).

This pattern is designed and drafted for woven non-stretch fabrics, but feel free to use fabric with a little stretch if you like.

Fabric requirements: Extra fabric needed to match plaids, stripes or one-way designs.

There are slight differences between the 00-22 and 14-32 pattern drafts. The extended range has more room in the seat as well as a curved back yoke, while the 00-22 range has a straight back yoke.

Inseam options for all sizes: Views A, B, C: 28″, 30″, 32″, 34″ // View D: 3.5″, 5.5″.

Notions: Light to medium weight fusible interfacing (20″/51 cm wide), 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m); thread (both topstitching and all purpose for bobbin); topstitching sewing machine needle; one 17 mm waistband button; 6 rivets // BUTTON FLY: four 14 mm buttons for sizes 00-14 or five 14 mm buttons for sizes 16-32 // ZIPPER FLY: Metal YKK jean zipper.
