Buy the Carolyn Pajamas sewing pattern from Closet Core Patterns. Designed for chic lounging, the Carolyn Pajamas are thoughtfully tailored and supremely comfortable.
The top features a classic notched collar, curved hem, breast pocket and three sleeve options. For a matching set, choose between a straight legged pant (with or without cuff) or a cuffed short. Both the pants and shorts feature an elasticised waist, pockets and a faux fly. Personalise Carolyn by adding contrasting piping details for an elegant finish.

What we think: These are the ultimate in luxury pyjamas. The only question is which fabric to choose?!
Suggested fabrics: Light to medium-weight wovens such as cotton flannel, linen, quilting cottons, shirting, lawn, double gauze, rayon challis, silk crepe or charmeuse.
Fabric requirements:
45" (1.14 m) wide fabric: View A/B: Sizes 0-8 = 5 yd (4.6 m) / Sizes 10-14 = 5.5 yd (5 m) / Sizes 16-20 = 5.75 yd (5.25 m) // View C: Sizes 0-8 = 3.5 yd (3.2 m) / Sizes 10-20 = 4 yd (3.7 m).
58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: View A/B: Sizes 0-8 = 3.5 yd (3.2 m) / Sizes 10-14 = 3.75 yd (3.5 m) / Sizes 16-20 = 4.5 yd (4.1 m) // View C: Sizes 0-8 = 2.5 yd (2.3 m) / Sizes 10-14 = 2.75 yd (2.5 m) / Sizes 16-20 = 3.25 yd (3 m).
Sizing: 0 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
This size range is based on a B cup bust and an average height of 5’6″. Please note that B cup does not refer to bra sizing, but rather to the difference in inches between high and full bust. A 2″ difference between those measurements is equivalent to a B cup.
Notions: Fusible interfacing; 5 shirt buttons (10-15 mm); 2 yd (1.8 m) of 1.5" (38 mm) wide elastic; optional piping: shirt = 3.5 yd (3.2 m), pants/shorts = 2 yd (1.8 m).

I had never done piping before but the instructions were very well worded (that’s a big deal for me – I do NOT like patterns with poor instructions!) I used thrifted fabric, thrifted piping, and buttons from my stash (which is why there are 3 black buttons and 3 pink – I didn’t have 6 of one color that I liked). I simplified by skipping the cuffs. I am loving the result!

I’ve made a couple of pairs of Carolyn pajamas, in a warm brushed cotton and a lightweight cotton. I’ve made the pants and the shorts. And I love them.
It’s a big project that takes some time, but maybe that’s my fault - I had pattern matching to deal with on the first pair using check fabric, and for the second pair I made my own piping and french seamed everything. But the finished product is superb so it’s worth it.
The pattern instructions are really good. The trickiest parts - like adding piping to the collar - are also covered on the closet core blog so you can achieve a really good finish.
I love my posh pjs and would thoroughly recommend this pattern.

Closet Core Carolyn Pyjamas - Now I know why this pattern is a best seller!
These PJ's have been on my sewing radar for sometime, but I have to admit the illustration on the front has always put me off. Then I see someone wearing them on Instagram and I want to make them asap.
I made the shorts version (it was summer) and plan on making a brushed cotton full length set very soon.
A superb pattern, the cut is perfect and the instructions are easy to follow and well illustrated. My top tip, read them twice, slowly, before diving in!
My details
I sized up from a 12 to a 14, I like a comfy fit for my PJ'S. I made no other adjustments this time. But I will make my piping as fine as possible next time. I will also leave out the lapel interfacing. I don't feel its needed on comfy pyjamas, especially if you want to sleep in them.
I did add the cutest little bow . . .

I have Future Plans for this pattern. . .
All my favourite girl friends are getting a pair of these fab little pyjama shorts for Christmas, in satin!

Oh my goodness. These PJs amazing.. I put them off for so long as I was scared of sewing buttons. Shame on Me! The buttons were easy, the collar was a bit tricky but I am in love so much with my new pyjamas.

I have wanted to make this pattern for ages, but was scared to tackle a notched collar and piping! I need not have worried as the instructions are fab and there are some really helpful tutorials on Closet Core's blog to help with the collar and making your own bias binding/piping.
When I saw this gorgeous Vegan Silk fabric from Sew Creative I knew it would be perfect. It was a little tricky to cut and sew but I just used lots of fine pins and took my time.
I love this pattern and am already planning a long sleeve version in a gorgeous check flannel.
