Buy the S9241 Men's Suit sewing pattern from Simplicity. It’s perfect for an intermediate dressmaker. Fitted, unlined jacket has peaked lapels, two-piece sleeves, back vents; slightly tapered fitted trousers have front and back pockets and buttoned waistband.

I decided to try to make my husband a jacket and he is very excited at the prospect. This pattern is definitely for an advanced sewer.It has been a big step up for me but even so, I feel I can achieve a result if I take it slowly.iI am not expecting perfection at my first attempt.However, I have encountered a problem.This pattern does not have a front, back , and side piece.It has only two pieces and the front goes round to the back and joins the armscye.There is only a dart at the ?underarm where a seam would normally be found.I am having an issue trying to increase the waist circumference and also do a high hip on my husband’s right side.I am hoping someone might read this and offer advice.I am wondering if I could cut through this dart down to the hem and thereby turn it into a three pattern piece.(sleeves etc not included.I think this pattern would be very smart for someone who fits right out of the box.At present I am in limbo.
