Buy the Tide Dress and Top sewing pattern from Papercut Patterns. This stunning dress and top features two long back pleats overlapping a keyhole neckline. It has a clean scoop neck front. Tide comes in two variations: a mid-calf length dress with side slits, or a top with a cropped front and dipped back hem. Perfect for events, always an eye catcher!

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following format:
- PAPER (next working day dispatch on orders and FREE UK delivery over £50). This pattern was recently renamed. While we sell our remaining stock, the paper pattern you receive will have the former name (Kobe Dress and Top).
Suggested fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics with drape. Cotton, silk, rayon and blends.
Fabric requirements:
Dress: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 2.3 - 2.6 m (2.5 - 2.8 yd) // 114 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.5 - 2.9 m (2.75 - 3.2 yd)
Top: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 1.2 - 1.4 m (1.3 - 1.5 yd) // 114 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.4 - 1.8 m (1.5 - 2 yd)
Sizing: 1 – 8 (approx. UK 4 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: Fusing; 1 small button for back neck closure; matching thread.

How lovely is the back detail on this? It is all plain t-shirt at the front and party at the back! As much as I am enjoying wearing this it is not without faults....
I cut a small, which is a size smaller than my measurements, I wouldn't want it bigger.
The neckline finish I found a bit messy, because you do the back and front separately. I can't figure out an alternative way though because you finish the shoulders after constructing the pleat. I top stitched the shoulder seam to help the back neckline sit near.
The pleat itself I struggled to do and even after following the papercut blog post I am still not 100% sure it is as intended as the shoulder seams didn't match up...I forced them to work in the end and you can't really tell on the finished garment!
The pleat tends to pull the top back in wear because it is heavier at the back than the front, I might add a little weight to the front hem next time to help that.
All that said it is easy to wear and there will be more. I just need a new seam ripper and a strong drink before I start them.
