A great multi purpose trouser pattern

I’m going to start that I’m not a big fan of elasticated waist trousers as they add bulk round my waist, that’s a personal thing because at 5’2” my relatively small waist is an important feature I like to emphasise when fitting clothes.
I was drawn to the pattern by the interesting pocket details and the extra vertical seams give opportunities for getting a better fit.
I’ve made the shorts version in a linen/viscose mix and they’re great with loose fitting tops.
However this pic is how I adapted them as exercise trousers. Close fitting, but not skin tight. The fabric is a thick nylon/Lycra with approx 30% stretch. I started with a size closer to my body measurements and shaped the pattern so the waist was also much closer to my measurement as the fabric would stretch to get them on. I cut the the back waistband to match the back body width and used elastic to pull it in to fit. I think I stabilised the front waistband with the same width elastic cut without stretching it. I also reduced the depth of the pockets to make them less obvious due to the close fit. But there’s still room for a phone!

Papercut Patterns Plaid Palisade Pants

I love this pattern! It was a good pattern for me to sew with plaid because the construction is pretty simple although there are plenty of vertical seams! I think this is amazing and adds great interest to the pattern! Here is my blog post and review!
