A lovely make & really useful bag

Such a great bag, really easy to carry, light, practical, good looking.  Perfect for holidays, hands free, quick to find your purse or phone. I often wear mine at the front for easy access.

Sewing this was good fun, I’ve made two.  The pattern is easy to follow, only two trip up bits:
1. ensuring the slide hardware is the correct way round
2. the lining – I sew the seams in so it’s fitted not loose.

Zips were hard to source, I found some very good looking ones on Etsy: Needled Boutique, YKK antique brass Head to Head Zipper and a matching single zip for the pocket which I leave exposed.

These match the hardware I bought from the Wool Shop https://wool-shop.uk/ and webbing for the strap.  Call to order if these aren’t on their website.

Great bag

This was my very first foray into bag making and was a gift for daughter for Christmas.

I spent an entire weekend sourcing the  internet for the hardware and a lightweight waterproof  canvas for the outer bag.  I used fat quarters I already had for the linings.  The pattern consists of measurements with 2 small pieces to cut round for the shaped pieces.  Have to admit the instructions stumped me so found the online videos a great help and easy to follow.  Without these I would not have been able to carry on.   The only tricky part I found was the top stitching round the finished zip at the very end and ended up buying a narrow quarter inch machine foot for it which helped an enormous amount.  Daughter was thrilled with her Christmas gift and would certainly make another now I have the hang of it but again following the video!

Lovely bag for holidays, day trips etc

Very nice pattern which makes a really attractive bag of very practical size. Like the inside and outside pockets - good at keeping things separate. Was a bit surprised to find that most of the pattern is just box measurements - there's only pattern pieces for the strap connector and curve guide. You'll need to allow extra time for this. I did the measurements on thick paper to make a pattern so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of measuring etc if I wanted to remake in the future.

The instruction booklet is lovely, very clear with two great videos linked by QR code (and link) for 2 trickier bits.

If a present you do need ideally to know which side the person will wear it on, alternatively you'll need 2 rings for the bottom to give them the choice.

Getting the corners neat and even looking is very tricky and these took me a long time to make (I'm v slow) but was really worth it.

Only downside was how hard it was to find the right size hardware in the UK.

I'm really pleased with these, worth taking my time to do a decent job. Would definitely make another of their patterns in the future.
