Buy the Range Backpack sewing pattern from Noodlehead. A useful and fun backpack to make, it’s great for any outing where you need to be hands free! The foldover top and closure keep things secure, while the front zippered pocket keeps essentials within easy reach. The pattern also features adjustable straps, an interior slip pocket, and hang loop.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following format:

NOTE: No printed pattern pieces are included. Rotary cutting instructions/measurements are provided instead, as all the pieces are rectangular (just cut and sew, no pattern pieces needed).

Suggested fabrics: Waxed canvas (10-12 oz.), cork fabric, cotton canvas, cotton/linen canvas, denim for exterior and contrast bottom fabric (quilting cotton may be substituted for exterior fabric requirement only; add 1/2 yd of 6-9 oz. cotton canvas/duckcloth (44" wide) for stabiliser and 18" square of low-loft cotton batting). Quilting cotton for lining fabric.

Fabric requirements: 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric: Exterior fabric, 3/4 yd (0.7 m) (or 1/2 yd of 54" wide fabric) // Contrast bottom fabric, 1/2 yd (0.5 m) // Lining fabric (includes exterior closure, straps and interior pocket), 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m).

Sizing: Finished dimensions: 15" H (closed) x 10 1/2" W x 4" deep (at base).

Notions: 3 1/2 yd of fusible woven interfacing (20" wide); 1 yd of medium-weight fusible interfacing (44" wide) (omit if using waxed canvas/cork); two 1 1/2" wide rectangle rings; two 1 1/2" wide strap sliders; two 1" wide D-rings for closure; one 8" zipper for front pocket; glue pen // Optional: 9" of 1" wide cotton webbing/leather (replaces hang loop cut from lining fabric).
