Named Inari Dress and Crop Tee

This is such a versatile pattern. You can use woven or stretch fabric, top or dress. I've made two dresses now, both with ponte roma, stretch fabric.

Its an oversized fit so although my measurements put me a fraction over the size 8, I went for that size. The instructions are great and the pattern, if you buy PDF, is layered so you can just select your size (or sizes if you want to blend between sizes). I made no alterations to the pattern other than shortening it. Its designed, I believe, for someone who is 5ft 8. I am shorter than this and I find that oversized lose fitting dresses look better on me. I made the dress shorter after trying it on and deciding how much I wanted to take off, raher than shortening the pattern piece. The back in longer than the front by design but I took less off the back than the front to make the difference in length between the front and back less dramatic.

Its a quick make with few pattern pieces and takes just 1.5m for the dress. I am sure I will make more!

I love the style lines of the Inari tee dress with the split, hi-low hem. I made it in medium weight bottle green linen that works a treat for this structured slightly cocoon-shaped shift dress. The sleeves went in beautifully and I flat-felled all the seams for pretty insides too. The only alteration I made was to add about 4cm at the waistlline to lengthen the dress which also gave me more hip room without having to blend between two sizes which I usually have to do.

The Inari tee dress and cropped top, is a super easy, quick and very satisfying make.

The dress took next to no time to make, and has some nice details such as the cuff on the sleeve, and if you are able to get hold of some ribbing for the neckline it can be finished off nicely.

Personally, I decided to lengthen the dress by 6cm, and I graded between size 10 on the top, and size 12 on the bottom which worked well for my figure. I used a quilted ponte roma, but you can use a woven too.

This is an extreme cocoon version of the Inari. I really only kept the pattern the same down to the armscye. I wanted to exaggerate the cocoon shape and I love how it turned out. I've made this in a knit, woven and a couple of knit/woven combined versions. It is very much a favrourite - I'm at four versions so far. I also dicsovered that the Inari has three sleeves with different sleeve cap shaping which would explain the issues some have had with the fit of the sleeves. This is my first Named Clothing Inari Tee Dress, sewn using a metre of Liberty Tana Lawn, purchased as a pre-cut length in a Liberty sale.

This dress was one of those projects which, I decided lateish in the evening, I absolutely needed to make to wear to work the next morning. Sometimes those projects turn out ok despite me, other times not.

In this instance, I selected a size based on the wrong size chart (i.e. I took the finished measurements chart to be the size chart) and cut the dress two sizes too small (a size 4 instead of 8). The dress ended up thrown aside in disgust for a couple of weeks before I revisited and realised that it did still fit, if a little lacking in ease.

This is totally my style and I love how little fabric it requires, so there will definitely be more Inari Tee Dresses added to my wardrobe.
