Buy the Jarrah Sweater sewing pattern from Megan Nielsen. Jarrah is a loose-fit drop-shoulder sweater. The pattern features a crew or funnel neckline, two sleeve options and four hem styles.
View A is a sweater with cuffs and a hem band. View B is a sweater with a curved hemline and split sleeve hem. View C is a sweater with a waist tie and cuffs. View D is a cropped sweater with a funnel neck and split sleeve hem.

Suggested fabrics:
Main: Medium weight knits with at least 10% stretch such as sweatshirt fleece, French terry and sweater knits.
Ribbing for Views A, B and C.
Fabric requirements: Additional fabric may be required to match patterned fabric.
Main: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: View A, 1.1 - 1.2 m (1 1/4 yd) // View B, 1.4 - 1.5 m (1 1/2 - 1 5/8 yd) // View C, 1.2 - 1.3 m (1 1/4 - 1 3/8 yd) // View D, 1.4 m (1 1/2 yd).
Ribbing: View A, 0.4 - 0.5 m (3/8 - 1/2 yd) // View B, 0.1 m (1/8 yd) // View C, 0.3 m (3/8 yd).
Sizing: 0 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: Views B, C and D: twin needle for hemming (optional); fusible hemming tape (optional).

I’ve made two Jarrahs so far and really like the pattern. Instructions are clear and easy to follow and it’s a quick make. I found it comes up quite big so sized down one size but could probably have dropped two sizes. I’ve made it in French Terry and Soft sweatshirt type fabric. I’ll definitely be making more!

I LOVE THIS PATTERN!! I have made so many versions of it out of lots of different fabrics and lots of the different variations. Its so good. This one was made from rib knit and its so comfy and I teamed it with the Megan Nielsen Axel skirt and its the comfiest outfit I own!! To read more about it go to the blog.

A quick and satisfying sew and super comfy to wear! This would be a great knit/jersey pattern for a beginner.
Jarrah has a dropped shoulder and a lot of ease which usually swamps my narrow shoulders so I went down one size to a 4 (UK 8). It’s still pretty roomy so I might size down again next time for a different look. It looks more cropped and oversized on me than it does in the samples, and I'm a UK 10 and 5’7” if that helps!
The only change I made was to shorten the neckband to 75% of the length of the neckline because I find every neckband pattern piece ever is too long and doesn’t sit flat, but I probably could’ve gone down to 70%.
Note: this pattern has a 1/4 inch seam allowance which is why I’ve ended up with that weird butt shape at the neckline: I assumed it was 1-1.5cm and placed my pattern piece accordingly ?
I used a French terry from By Graziela (PR product) which was a great weight for a lightweight sweater.

About a year ago I decided I was going to trace off an old ready to wear jumper. However, I never got around to it and then happened across the Megan Nielsen Jarrah sweater which was very similar to what I was looking. The Jarrah is available in the new curve range, drafted to a sewing D cup, but unfortunately only available in PDF at the moment.
There are a few different options available which you can mix and match and I’ve also hacked one version to make the sleeves more voluminous.
I have made a lot of these sweaters in a very short space of time, eight in 2 months!
The jumper is relaxed fit but I wanted someone slightly more fitted so sized down two sizes and I love the fit.
I would definitely recommend this sweater and there are so many opportunities to play around with colour blocking and adding a contrasting ribbing. I have also made versions in sweatshirt fleece, jersey knit and this lighter weight textured knit which I think gives it a smarter feel.

Very nice oversized sweater. Perfect for autumn. I did view A with rib for the cuff and the neckband.
