Great stylish jacket

Review of McCall's 8011

I bought this pattern specifically to use with an animal print 'scuba type' heavy weight fabric I'd purchased. The pattern is an easy loose fitting jacket and I made view C, in size L. There is room for a jumper underneath too so check your sizing if you want it to be more snug.

The make up with my chosen fabric was a challenge to say the least, it was thick, so any seams gave alot of added bulk. That's not the patterns fault though, but I wouldn't want to make it with another heavy fabric.

Instructions are easy to follow with pictures and I didn't make any drastic changes to those instructions given. However, my fabric was quite thick when folded, so to get a neater looking pocket I lined it with a thin Ankara print. I then bagged it out and top stitched. I love the pleat detail in the pockets. I also made a top flap for each pocket and lined that too.

I found the bottom edge of the jacket to be a bit loose and looked a bit baggy when completed. I therefore took the waistband off and added some ribbing at each side to bring the bottom edge in for a nicer fit.

Definitely a pattern that I will be using again as I love my jacket and how unique it is.
