Buy the Luna Pants sewing pattern from Made by Rae. The Luna Pants are loose-fitting pants with a tapered leg and a comfortable fit. A quick sew, the pants include in-seam pockets and are comprised of four main pieces, with facings attached inside the pants to form the waistband. Choose from a variety of prints and fabrics to style them for both casual and dressier occasions.
This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following format:

Suggested fabrics: Woven lightweight cotton and linen blend fabrics such as voile, rayon challis, shot cotton, shirting, double gauze, lawn, broadcloth, and lightweight chambray. Stable knits (30% stretch or less) such as jersey or interlock.
Fabric requirements: 44" (1.1 m) wide fabric: 2.75 - 3.5 yd (2.4 - 3.3 m) // 54" (1.4 m) wide fabric: 2.25 - 3 yd (2 - 2.8 m).
Yardage estimates allow for space between pattern pieces and estimated fabric shrinkage. If you want to match a print, or are taller than 5'8" (173 cm) and usually need to add length, the designer recommends purchasing an additional 1/4 yd (0.3 m) of fabric.
Sizing: XXS - XL and plus sizes 1 - 5 (approx. UK 6/8 - 30/32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: 1" (25 mm) wide elastic (see chart).

If you are new to sewing trousers this pattern is a great starting point! Comprising of only 4 pattern pieces and with excellent instructions, the Luna Pants are a very beginner-friendly project. I used a 40z cotton denim for my pair as I wanted a more comfortable alternative to jeans that still worked well with the rest of my wardrobe. I made the size XS which are fine, but I think they are not as loose fitting as intended so I would make the size S next time. I didn't need to make any alterations to the pattern - they are drafted for someone who is 5'6" and I am 5'4", but I liked the length on me so kept it as it is. I really love the Luna Pants and I think it is a pattern I will sew again - for a more experienced sewist they are a very quick project and I want to try them in a viscose for the summer. A lovely easy sew with good clear instructions. I made the XXL and although 3 inches above the waist max and 1 inch on the hip they fit really well. Next time i will try using a drapier fabric than the quilting cotton i used this time.
